Bills' Bay Day Opens Patriots Path to Top Spot - Highlights of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many people into the NFL
This outcome could have created opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a monster clash next week, while our player of the week is pursuing milestones as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third quarter and first points in the fourth - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was still a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two scores but running back De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two scores
Containing the NFL's top running game was also key, with Cook and company registering just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the season and just over half their 161.5-yard average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the pair from Allen specifically. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that Miami converted to a touchdown just two plays
It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Allen trying to do too much to dig his team from the situation - not the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a varied performances this year so the jury's out on whether this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - Patriots Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the Patriots, they're one of three eight and two squads in the league, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the best?
One could find flaws in New England, the Broncos and the Colts actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their combined 24 victories coming against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Broncos
Denver beat the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their primtime win in Orchard Park appears to be a declaration
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's first three contests, with seven straight victories, just like the Broncos, since then - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to get ready was huge
Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he certainly deserves point for courage after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to victory
The defense is solid and first-year rusher Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favourites to end with the top record thanks to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a successful opponent, although a significant contest against the Bills
Visiting the Ravens is challenging too, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to face two times, the Chargers (who could also compete for first place but face the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the schedule
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There's a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is open for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Set for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who each scored forty points to reach 7-2 before the upcoming major game between the two in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing fewer than twenty points a contest
Both could realistically be undefeated as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their two defeats occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in week one, before losing to the final play of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly two of the top teams in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Top Performer - Jonathan Taylor
Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Berlin - rushing for 244 rushing yards, scoring three scores and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
