England's Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test match for New Zealand was versus the English side in December 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be present for the opening match because of his participation in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on December 2 in the UAE.
Southee, 36, assumed a position as England's fast bowling consultant in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Speaking as the English team for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was announced, Southee stated of his availability: "We're still working through the situation at the moment.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] team that's heading out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
But, before the English team head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
