American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "in a good place" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, following securing a podium spot for the fourth time in her last five World Cup events.

The veteran athlete, who last week set a record by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This marked her 142nd career World Cup podium finish.

Strong Return in the French Alps

Racing in the iconic venue for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of 1:20.60. She was 0.36 seconds behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing the runner-up spot.

"I was slightly lacking enough direction on the first jump," Vonn remarked. "After that, I skied well. I'm pleased with my run today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday.

An Incredible Return from Retirement

Vonn officially retired in early 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she returned to racing in late 2024 following a major knee surgery.

With 47 days remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She has one gold and two Olympic bronze medals in her collection and is strongly positioned to represent the United States at the 2026 Games.

"In Cortina, I will be where I need to be," Vonn affirmed.

Chasing More Titles

In addition to her Games aspirations, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four overall crystal globes she has won over a professional journey spanning two decades.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the overall downhill standings and is ranked fifth in the super-G World Cup table.

This season's World Cup campaign includes a total of nine races taking place before the season finals in Norway on 21 March 2026.
