Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
