Dan Burn A nuisance at set pieces, typically, could serve as another option to Stones at the back as opposed to paired with him. A careless ball later in the match came close to the first goal from the visitors. Six

Nico O’Reilly A further assured showing by the rising star following his debut versus Serbia. Saka failed to make full advantage of a clever backheel behind the Albania defence. The left-back spot is firmly his already. Seven

Adam Wharton His first start for his country. Somewhat sloppy in possession though his whipped deliveries posed a danger. A handy pace-controller for the boss to have against sides that sit back. Booked after a reckless foul. 6/10

Declan Rice Deliveries from corners and free-kicks caused problems. Enjoyed freedom to drift in left midfield only to be offside upon receiving in front of goal. Awarded a deserved rest around the 60-minute point. 6

The star midfielder Operated in a forward role down the right and also contributed with the hard yards. Demonstrated glimpses of brilliance but mishit an effort over. Replaced in the closing stages by Rogers, his competition, after receiving a caution. Seven

The winger Had the team's clearest opportunity of the first half, his shot smartly stopped by Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah holding position, he had to provide width on the right yet his deliveries into the box were inconsistent. Substituted for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

The captain The match-winner with his 77th and 78th finishes in an England shirt. His first a classic poacher’s finish and the second a classy finish with his head after peeling away off his defender. Aged 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders next summer with him up top. 8

The attacker Struggled to get into the game from the left. Was presented with a decent opportunity when set up by Bellingham yet Strakosha made the save. His replacement had a greater an impact in his place. Five
