Vince Zampella, the mind behind the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a vehicle crash in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The renowned game designer passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, as reported by.

"This is a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with his family and friends, those closest to him, and the countless individuals inspired by his creative vision," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
