Vinted Users Express Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
